Cloich Windfarm

Update to the Tweedgreen membership on the Cloich Forest proposed windfarm development and Tweedgreen involvement, 19 January 2012

Following on from the request for a members’ mandate we wish to inform everyone on what has been done so far.

As a first step we formed a dedicated group, Cloich Windfarm Group to approach the various parties and to decide on how to proceed. This group is in addition to the existing Tweedgreen Food, Travel and Energy groups. A next meeting of Cloich Windfarm Group will take place on the 2nd of February next at The Bridge office, Schoolbrae at 7.30 pm.

The developers of the Cloich Windfarm site are Partnership for Renewables. Further information on this company can be found at www.pfr.co.uk

A meeting with Partnership for Renewables has taken place on the 17th of January to inform them of our developments and to get an update on the application.

The proposed scheme consist of between 18 and 20 turbines of 2.5 MW each and are expected to generate 131.40 GWh of renewable energy per year (PfR Scoping Study August 2011). The Environmental Impact Assessment report is due to be published in October 2012.

It is our intention to circulate a monthly update report to the membership.

We aim to also update the Tweedgreen website on a regular basis.
