Travel
Many of us have chosen to live in this beautiful part of the Scottish Borders because we love the beautiful, remote and peaceful landscape. The rolling hills, the green fields, the rivers, provide a stunning backdrop to our towns and villages. We live in towns and villages that are peaceful, safe, with a strong sense of community, where we can walk down the street and chat to people, where we aren’t anonymous. We live here because we love the environment. But what are we doing to protect this environment?
In reality, many of us leave this green haven every day to commute to nearby towns and cities to work. Because we have no train link, many of us may feel we have no choice other than to drive to work. We jump in our cars to go to the local shops. We hop in the car to visit our friends and family. Do we have any other choice?
Tweedgreen aims to provide us with choices. We can’t build a train line, but we can work on options that help us rely less on our cars.
We are working closely with key groups to promote sustainable transport options: walking, cycling, lift-sharing and eco-driving.
