About the Travel Group

about travel

The travel group is a group of volunteers from within the community who are concerned by our dependence on cars.  We all know cars contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.  Cars are expensive to run, and are becoming even more so.  All of us have been affected by the cost of fuel creeping up regularly at our petrol stations.  What can we do to make us less reliant on this dwindling and increasingly expensive resource?

In a rural community, many people can’t do without cars…. but could we reduce their use and so greatly reduce our individual and community carbon emissions?

Tweedgreen travel group aims to promote different alternatives to car journeys.  We aim to work in partnership with other local organisations and businesses that promote biking and sustainable transport options in the area, including:  the Energy Savings Trust, Sustrans, Bespoke Bikes,  The Hub at Glentress, Glentress Bike Hire, Cycle Scotland, Peebles Cycling Club, Scottish Borders Council.  Our ultimate aim is to help us become a fitter, healthier community that chooses low impact transport when possible.
